The Southampton League are very sad to hear of the recent passing of Dave Smith, a long serving member of our Management Committee.

A former referee, Dave was hugely popular and much respected for his loyal service to the game in this area …

He was also Chairman of the Southampton FA, and Secretary Mike Harvey paid tribute saying “Like many, I have known Dave for a very long time and his passing is a massive loss for grassroots football in Southampton. Our thoughts are with his family, especially his son as this sad time”

Paul Proctor from the Hampshire Premier League said “We are saddened to report the death of our President Dave Smith. A true gentleman, and always willing to help, our thoughts and condolences go to all Dave's family and friends. There will be a minutes silence held at all matches this weekend”
